Domaine Les Hautes Cances
New adventures in Cairanne
Domaine les Hautes Cances consists of 18 hectares of vines with 12 ha into AOC Cairanne. The Cairanne cru plots are mainly located on the heights of the appellation, with the Col du Débat vines in the first place. They flourish on hills and at high altitudes, exposed to the Mistral; this maximizes the freshness we want in our wines. The rest of the parcels are located both near the village on the terraces of the Aygues river and on the Garrigues, bringing elegance and fruitiness.
The domaine was taken over in 2019 by the Amadieu family, and we wish to preserve the same winegrower spirit, as we have been doing on our estate in Gigondas for 90 years, by seeking the best expression of the terroir.
We are also pursuing the sustainable growing methods initiated by Anne-Marie and Jean-Marie Astart (the previous owners) in 1995, when they created the domaine. We now want to convert into organic farming.
We have invested in new equipment (stainless steel vats, oak cask and cooling system), allowing us to vinify single vineyard cuvées in order to learn more about the specificities of each plot.
We are also investing in the vineyard in order to restructure it and bring more life into the soil, in particular thanks to new tillage tools.
Our team
We are eager to promote these beautiful Cairanne terroirs throughout the seasons, and we are fortunate to go on with the people who worked with Jean-Marie and Anne-Marie Astart. Their knowledge of the vineyard and its terroirs allows us to continue in the way they initiated.
Stefan, Deborah and Nathan take care of the good maintenance of each vineyard and help to manage the various cellar works . Seasonal workers reinforce the staff during the major operations as the harvest, carried out manually.
